DQ 13: Real Estate Sustainability Essay Assignment Instructions

There are significant differences between sustainability and sustainable development, especially as these two terms relate to Real Estate Markets/Operations.InstructionsThis essay has four Research Questions (RQs), for the first three RQs you must provide these three separate components:

theory>research>analysis. Before answering these four RQs you should have completed the reading assignments for Week Four.

NOTE: The more each student knows about the theory associated with each research question the more precise and in-depth the research agenda will become. In addition, a strong theory and research section will also guide the analysis section (the last section). The analysis section is where each student will thoughtfully contemplate the theory and research and then “analytically” connect the two. In your professional careers the analysis section will guide the company. In grad school your analysis section should be connected to your course.

RQ1: What is “sustainability”? While this topic is very wide and deep, this week’s readings will provide a broad overview of sustainability and some applications as they relate to Real Estate, each student must expand their knowledge of sustainability before answering RQ1.

RQ2: What is “sustainable development.”

RQ3: How should sustainability be incorporated into the world of Real Estate Operations? Please provide several examples that are not discussed in this week’s reading assignments. In addition, discuss how your examples are connecting to changes in the Real Estate marketplace. Where applicable provide JPEG/Photos/Drawings.

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.
