Essay 6: Best treatments for anxiety and depression

In my opinion there is not really a right or wrong way to treat anxiety or depression. There are many different ways to help treat these illnesses. Some coping mechanisms work for people that may not work for others. It just depends on how severe your anxiety or depression is that really only one thing that would work would be medication. I don\’t believe medication should be the first thing someone jumps to as a conclusion for their problems. I think that they should try something else. For example when someone is having a panic attack or an anxiety attack they should try self coping mechanisms to stop the attack before taking medication. As a person who struggles with anxiety and panic disorder that it\’s not easy to control it but when I do lose control and have a panic attack I use coping mechanisms to help me calm down. My mechanisms may not work for someone else. Everyone who struggles with it has their own that works for them.

In my opinion I think there are a few good options. I think therapy is a good treatment but there are many types of therapies out there, you have to find the one for you. I agree and disagree with medication I think it works but I do not think it is one of the best alternatives. If you have tried many treatments out there and they do not work medications might be the way to go. Personally, I think natural treatments are the best because there is no dependence.

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.

Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.
