Question 2: Review the Strategic Framework for Multiple Chronic Conditions, and describe the primary objectives for directing chronic condition management in the U.S. NSG 6002 Week 2 Assignment 2:

This assignment consists of two parts. This first part is a short paper or ‘legislative matrix’ that describes the legislators and the current legislation. This requires you to look at the legislators in your local area (Cape Coral, Florida), your state and your representatives in the |federal government. You have to determine which legislator can be helpful to you and the topic you’re concerned about.

Then, you’re instructed to investigate any legislation that is being considered or passed or tabled in the state senate, the state house or in the Governor’s office. Depending on the topic, you may want to look at the same topic on the federal level or the same topic in other states. If another state has already passed appropriate legislation, that could well be evidence for your support of legislation in Florida.

This part of the assignment (that fulfills the first two parts of the rubric) is a short paper that presents this information. After you’ve researched this evidence, you will be able to make an educated decision about which legislator you’ll address in your letter, and what evidence will help you select the legislation you are supporting – or not supporting.

In Week 3, you will write the letter to your legislator. You do not:

1 – start with ‘My name is Mary Smith and I’m a student nurse practitioner.’

You are signing the letter, so the legislator will know your name. You should say that you have been a practicing registered nurse in the State of Florida for 7 years and will soon begin practice as a nurse practitioner. Saying that you’re a student means ‘oh, great – another student assignment’…..and the legislator may not have any interest in your topic.

Then:

2 – Identify the issue, and why you want to support or not support it. Cite the evidence you’ve found – and how it upholds your position and then explain how the legislator can help. Be sure to explain how the legislator’s support in this effort is absolutely essential.

Explain how this legislation and his/her support will improve life and healthcare for people in Florida.

3 – Thank the legislator for his/her support of your issue. Offer your help to support the topic- it’s putting your dedication where you said it should be.

Sign your name with your credentials. If you have a practice certification, make sure you include it. Put it last, so you can explain it. Instead of using the letters, write out the title of your certification – chances are that folks outside the healthcare field won’t have any idea what the letters mean.

Remember: you are writing in a scholarly manner. Generally, there is no first person used in APA-formatted papers. So, no first person in the first part of this assignment. In the letter, you will probably need to use I or we or us—– but remember: you’re supposed to be sharing your evidence-based opinion with the legislator – that’s your expertise.

Sign your letter like this:

Sincerely,
